    You can test a specific winch solenoid by doing a walkaround to see if the issue is with the switch or the small sample solenoid. Also, using each cable with 12 gauge wire, jump off the +12V battery and connect the green wire to our magnet. The winch should only work in one direction. Then connect the +12V wire to the black wire from the solenoid. If the winch does not work in another control, then the magnet has big problems.

    How do you check a winch contactor?

    To test the motor, connect a +12V wire to each of the two motors. The motor must run in both directions. If it works in both manuals, you know the motor is fine and the problem is probably with the switch or solenoid.

    Why is my winch just clicking?

    If it’s just a quick flick it’s tedious to shoot, unfortunately it doesn’t have enough power to deliver. If it “clicks”, can pull and your engine is not running, I would check the winch locating system on each battery/frame ground. You can also check the positive and negative traits.

    Inspect the cable before and after each winch operation. If the ship’s line is bent or the new line is worn, the wire line must be replaced. Also be sure to inspect the winch hook and lock pin for signs of wear or damage. Replace if necessary.

  • Keep winch, cable close to cable, control switch free of fibers. Use a clean bamboo towel or cloth to remove dirt and debris. If necessary, unwind the capstan (leave at least 5 turns in total) around the spool drum), wipe it dry and store it properly before putting it away. Using LGT oil on a cable, rope, and even a winch hook can prevent rust or corrosion.

    Using the winch for extended periods of time puts a strain on the vehicle’s battery. Also, be sure to check and maintain the battery and its cables according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Also inspect the switches and all electrical appliances to make sure they are clean and tight.

    How do you test a winch solenoid?

    With any voltmeter, touch the large contacts next to the solenoid with the winch off. The two large bolts may be on the winch side of this solenoid. The voltmeter shows even a dozen volts when the solenoid is definitely working.

    Inspect the remote control for damage, if any. Be sure to cover the remote control socket to prevent dirt and debris from getting into the sockets, for example.
